Net Zero-Energy House
- Designed a cost effective net zero-energy house including a heating and cooling analysis, a roof-top photovoltaic system, a complete economic analysis, a SketchUp 3-D model, floor plan, and a scale model with shadow diagram
- Our house is located in Nashville, TN, with a total house area of 3450 ft2 designed for a family of four. We allocated $15,000 more for an electric vehicle of the zero-energy house than the conventional vehicle of the reference house. The NPV of our ZEH is $17,857, and the first year savings is $629 compared to the reference house. We can spend an extra $24,350 on EV to have a positive first year cash flow, and an extra $41,000 to have a positive NPV.
